So many ideas, but in the end decided on:
- A spiral shaped stick pin....and
- Fabric made from cords sewn together
Photo #1: A favorite jacket pattern. The collar, lapels and pockets are cut in one continuous piece. This could be made from fabric cords sewn to a backing.
Photo #2. Paper mock-ups of the corded fabric lapels. Bottom left corner is a photo from chapter 5.
Photo#3: Drawing of a hat. The whole hat could be made from corded fabric or just the brim.
Photo #4: Paper mock-ups of the hat with optional bead ideas for the brim.
Photo #5: Paper mock-ups of a spiral stickpin, using magazine photos and plastic sticks.
Photo #6: Charcoal drawing of jacket lapels with paper, wire and thread stickpin mock-ups. A "Coiling Gizmo" was used to twist the wire. Bottom left corner is a paper design from chapter 2.
Photo #7: Cotton string from chapter 3 - cones of string were wetted, stood on end in a container of dye, then turned into another container of dye and the colours allowed to migrate.
Photo #8: Cones of dyed string plied on a spinning wheel.
Photo #9: Bobbins of plied string and the dyed paper cores from the cones. I've saved the paper cores....perhaps I'll try cutting them into buttons or beads.
Photo #10: Skeins of plied string
Photo #11: Skeins were plied again. This photo shows a bobbin of the multi-plied string.
